Frequently Asked Questions - Instructions

Collecting, Preserving and Sending Samples

  1. The sample must be representative. If it is a large tissue or a whole fish, the point where DNA isolation will be done should be indicated.
  2. If several tissue pieces are sent in the same tube, the selection of the sample by BioDetect for DNA isolation will be random. Generally, this sample shipping option is not recommended.
  3. The quantity of sample should be sufficient for the tests requested. In the case where only DNA isolation is required, a small piece of tissue is sufficient.
  4. Necessary handling during sampling requires sterile tools (forceps, spatulas, spoons, packages) and the sampler’s hands should be covered with sterile gloves.
  5. The information (Unique sample code / point and time of sampling) is noted on a label, which is stuck on the container. It is recommended to avoid sending samples without any code. Also, it is recommended to avoid simple codes like 1, 2, 3… or A, B, C… for easier later identification of the results.
